Case study · Data accuracy
Real fares. Proven routes.
Replacing estimated fares, guessed airlines and unconfirmed flights with dated, cross-checked data across about a thousand route pages and hundreds of airline networks.

The challenge
Plausible
is not proven.
Generated travel pages are only as good as the data behind them. On the platform, early route pages estimated fare ranges from distance alone. Long-haul routes fell back to a fixed list of airlines whether or not they flew the route. Many flight pages could not show both ends of the journey.
The pages looked plausible. They were not reliable, and both travellers and search engines noticed.
The approach
Publish only
what you can show.
Travel pages are only useful if the fares, airlines and flights on them are real.
Replace estimates with dated fares.
Show real, dated fare data instead of price bands estimated from distance.
Prove which airlines fly.
List an airline on a route only when schedule or fare data shows it operates there.
Cross-check flights.
Publish a flight page only when the flight has been seen on enough dates, and remove impossible durations.
Fix the structured data.
Stop structured data from sending estimated prices to search engines, and consolidate duplicate route URLs to one canonical page.
What changed
Pages users can rely on.
Every fare, airline and flight shown now traces back to a dated source.
- Route pages rebuilt on real data
- ~1,000
- Airline networks built from open data
- ~500
- Duplicate route URLs consolidated
- 319
Honest prices
No more estimated price bands presented as fares.
Proven airlines
No more default carrier lists on routes they do not fly.
Cleaner signals
Accurate structured data and one canonical page per route.
